Lovely Xinjiang
Lovely Xinjiang is the visual identity of a large restaurant in Urumqi, Xinjiang. The design draws on the local Uygur craft of grinding and joining bricks, seen on traditional building surfaces. Cultural elements of the region are drawn as simple graphic blocks and joined into larger figures. Each block stands for a different culture, and together the blocks form one complete picture. The identity is applied through the restaurant, which includes 56 private rooms, each themed on a national tradition. The intent is to present the many cultures of Xinjiang as one whole.
Lovely Xinjiang Restaurant by Jie Yang was recognized as a creative example of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Lovely Xinjiang Restaurant earned the Iron A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2020. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award that rewards outstanding design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
