Time Capsule
Time Capsule is a package designed for a community library in Nishi-Tokyo City. Time Capsule is loaned to library users on an annual basis. Personal treasures and family mementos are kept inside, and a date and time for opening are set by the user. The package looks like a book, so it can be displayed on the high shelves that users cannot reach and where books cannot be placed safely during earthquakes. Five colors bring movement to the space while keeping a calm atmosphere. Colors that resist fading and paper that resists warping suit long display.
Time Capsule Package by Koichi Namimoto was highlighted as a creative illustration of communication design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Time Capsule Package earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Packaging Design in 2024. The A' Packaging Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program which rewards outstanding design of bottles, boxes, cans, pouches, tubes, cartons, wrappers, bags and more.
